I actually bought this book for Elise and Jake to read. Jake had read Dragon Rider, which is also by her. I had read The Thief Lord. Inkheart had been sitting in my bookcase for a while. The other day I decided to read it. I finished it that day, and the next day I went and bought the second book Inkspell. These books are charming and captivating. I have really enjoyed reading them. The characters are well written and the plot is pretty unique(which is hard to come by in a juvenile fantasy book). There is supposed to be a movie of Inkheart coming in 2007. I can't wait. I highly recommend these books. I think I'll read Dragon Rider next.

Jeff and I rented a movie called "The Thief Lord" a couple of weeks ago to watch as a family home evening. I wonder if it is based on that book..It was a so-so movie. The kids liked it.

There is a movie made from the book. It was mentioned on the authors website. I liked Inkheart better than The Thief Lord. The Thief Lord wasn't a bad book though. I really liked it up to the ending. The characters were very good.

My sister Katie loves those books. She has been begging me to read them; which I plan to do as soon as the third in the series comes out. Glad to hear you enjoyed them as well.

I have heard really good things from some kids about those books. I will have to check them out. I am so glad you post about books! I always need something to read!

I have been debating whether or not to let Elise and Jake read the Inkheart books. The first one is ok, but the second book has a little bad language. The "d" word, which isn't too bad, but it also has s.o.b. in it, which I thought was totally pointless and didn't add anything to the story. I guess I should decide soon. Jake has already started Inkheart. Is it wrong to take a sharpie to a book?

I loved Inkheart. Thought it was such a creative idea and well told story. We have Inkspell, but I haven't read it yet, but I'll get to it. How old are Jake and Elise? I'm still picturing them very young, I guess. Which happens when you don't watch them grow up.

Nicole, Theif Lord, the movie is based on the book. Remember these are youth books, so the movies may not appeal as much to us. My daughter loved the movie and the book.

Jake is almost 8, and Elise is almost 9. They both are advanced readers. Elise tends to avoid books longer than 200 pages. Jake has read some of the longer ones. He is the one who wants to read Inkheart. I may have to make him wait to read it, he won't be happy.

I think I liked Inkspell better than Inkheart, but both were very good. I don't remember reading any bad words, but then I am so jaded I wouldn't notice. I did think they were kind of violent. The evil guy is pretty scary.
