The Readers Block has Ended.

I have finally finished a book. I was worried for a while. I sarted a bunch of books, but I couldn't get through them. For Christmas I got Ben the book: The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero by William Kalush and Larry Sloman. It was one of those presents that was sort of for both of us. A week or so after Christmas we bought The Illusionist. We had seen it in the theatre and loved it. After watching it again, I was motivated to pick up the Houdini book. Since then I haven't been able to put it down, despite the dirty looks from Ben.

There was absolutley nothing ordinary about Houdini's life. From his flying escapades (He was the first person to fly an airplane in Australia) to his unbelievable escapes (from handcuffs to daring underwater feats). I was expecting an interesting read about magic, I got much more than I expected. I highly recommend this book. If you are up for something a little different, you'll really enjoy this book.

Now Ben can read it ;-)

Just what I needed: another book to add to the list. But you make it sound so good. Thanks

I just rented Illusionist but haven't watched it yet. I'm excited to. How do you compare it to The Prestige?

I haven't seen The Prestige yet. I want to. From what I've read about The Prestige, I think The Illusionist is more a mystery/romance story. Have you seen/Did you like The Prestige?

I really liked the Prestige. It's quite a mystery too with a little romance thrown in but it's mostly about the magic and competitivness of the two magicians. You should rent it.

I really want to see the Prestige. The Illusionist is great. How can you go wrong with Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti? It's one of my favorite Paul Giamatti performances.

p.s. I'm glad that I can finally read my present...

I need a biography for the library's summer reading program. I'm going to keep this one in mind. You make it sound so good.

I really like The Illusionist, too. Am putting Prestige on my list.

So I just watched The Illusionist and loved it. It didn't have as much mystery to it as Prestige, but I don't think they are really comparable. I love Edward Norton. I've seen almost everything he has been in. I will definitely go out and buy this one.
